SUMMIT ROCK WALL ADVENTURES
Michigan's Only 25-Foot Tall 5 Climber Portable Rock Wall With Dual Extreme Air Jumpers
Physical Education Rock Climbing Program
“The State Board of Education recommends that all public schools offer physical education opportunities that include the components of a quality physical education program. Quality physical education programs positively impact students’ physical, social, and mental health. It is the unique role of quality physical education programs to provide opportunities for children to understand the importance of physical activity and to acquire skills to combat a sedentary lifestyle.” *,**
Summit Rock Wall Adventures is introducing it's Summit Rock Climbing Program. With the need for quality physical education in the lives of our school children, we want to offer our services to schools as a new and additional alternative to the regular physical education classes.
While new schools are being built, and others being renovated, with the newest and latest state-of-the-art fitness centers (some with indoor climbing walls) many don’t have these opportunities because of the lack of money in the construction budgets. To overcome this obstacle and to bring children throughout the State of Michigan a quality and well rounded physical education, we would like to bring our 25-foot tall climbing wall to schools for a day of rock climbing to learn and enjoy this new and growing sport. The students at the schools can learn and experience the thrill of rock climbing in their very own school yard or gym. Below are the details of our climbing program and what it would accomplish.
A day of rock climbing is very affordable with our special pricing for schools and additional discounts could apply if coordinated with a tour of other schools in the same district or other local cities. Please call us to reserve a day or with any questions.
We are also available for fall back to school events as well as end of the year school parties and school field days.

The fundamental goal of Summit Rock Wall Adventures’ Rock Climbing program and it’s relation to a physical education program is to prepare students for the challenges of the 21st century by providing opportunities to attain the skills and knowledge in a new and growing sport as part of a healthy lifestyle. Students should become competent in climbing, while developing motor skills and social skills and learn to enjoy the physical activity from climbing while not compromising safety. The elementary school children should derive developmental and personal meaning from climbing and enjoyment as they gain competence in climbing ability. At the middle school level, participation in physical activity such a rock climbing provides important opportunities for challenge, social interaction, group membership and serves an important role in the physical maturation processes. Secondary level physical education provides enjoyment, challenge, social opportunities and a greater opportunity for self-expression and personal meaning.
As a result of these benefits of rock climbing as a physical activity, students will begin to actively pursue lifelong physical activities that meet their own needs. The Summit Rock Climbing Class fits the general scope of the vision and standards of the Michigan Department of Education “Physical Education Content Standards and Benchmarks”.
Program Description
Students will have the opportunity to experience climbing a 25-foot tall realistic rock wall. After an introductory discussion about some of the thoughts and emotions that climbing can evoke, students will learn about the equipment, techniques, and commands used by climbers and belayers. Following a brief instructor led demonstration climb, the student climbing session will begin. During the conclusion portion of class, the instructor will facilitate a discussion during which students will hopefully relate their climbing wall experiences to aspects of their everyday lives.
